Our Mission

Dear Educator/Caregiver:

Little Hearts…BIG Change has been created to empower children to recognize that they can contribute by being a part of the solution in times of crisis.

Children pick up emotional cues from the adults in their lives. Often times, after a natural disaster like Katrina, the Tsunami and now the horrendous devastation in Haiti, young children feel a sense of hopelessness, despair and fear of the world around them. Television bombards kids with the coverage of these tragedies, and in turn these kids feel helpless, afraid of dying, being homeless and/or losing a loved one. Little Hearts…BIG Change helps even the youngest children here in the States by encouraging them to take an active role during international crises, thus helping them to feel more secure in their world and leaving them with a sense of empowerment. Children learn that small things (and small people) can make a difference. They learn the wonderful benefits of giving back to the community at a very young age.

With the help of The Oogieloves - stars of the upcoming film, The Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure - as our mascots, Little Hearts…BIG Change is working directly with Love Our Children USA (a leading national children's charity) and The Clinton Bush Haiti Foundation to create activities and fund-raising to benefit the children of Haiti, who will be suffering for many years to come.

Your classroom or child can make a BIG difference.  If each child that we reach out to donates (through fundraising activities) as little as one quarter to help the children of Haiti, these little contributions would be responsible for BIG change and millions of dollars in aid.  We, along with a team of well respected advisors, have created simple fundraising activities that any child can do on their own, as well as more extensive projects that a supervised group can do together. We truly look forward to your school’s involvement with the initiative and are counting on you to help.  Please remember that all monies contributed to the fund in 2010 will go to help the children of Haiti recover and improve their lives for many years to come.

We think that you will agree that it is a strong positive experience to empower and teach children that little things can make a huge difference.

Please get involved and do what you can to help those in need.  As always…

With gratitude,
